Google unveils Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro using its own new Tensor chip

Google has just unveiled its next-generation smartphones – Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro – in a blog post.

Details are scarce, but Google said the two smartphones will debut this fall (probably Oct) and will share all the details such as new features, technical specs and pricing and availability during its launch then.

The search giant did offer some insights with the first big news being Google making its on System on a Chip (SoC) called Tensor. It is Google’s first custom-built SoC specifically for Pixel phones, and will power the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

In addition, the smartphones’ improved sensors and lenses are now too big to fit into the traditional camera square. So, the Pixel 6 series’ new design will have a camera bar to give the whole camera system a new home.

Google also said the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have new materials and finishes like the Pro’s light polished aluminium frame, and the 6’s matte aluminium finish for great feel in your hands.

Before you get too excited, do remember the Pixel 5 was never officially available in Singapore. We certainly hope this will not be the case for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
